Home Cleaning Checklist

At Easy Living Cleaners, we take pride in being a professional team dedicated to providing exceptional cleaning services. One of the key advantages of choosing us is that we approach cleaning with a well-thought-out game plan. Our systematic and organized strategy ensures thorough cleaning while accommodating your specific requests.

Curious about our cleaning methods? We're happy to share our secrets because we love what we do and believe in the power of sharing knowledge. Some of these might be obvious and some have been passed down from the grandparents! To help you maintain a clean and tidy home, we've prepared a helpful house cleaning checklist:

  1. Set the mood: Start by playing some energetic music to make the cleaning process more enjoyable. Begin by de-cluttering and consider letting go of items you no longer need. Remember, the less you have, the less you'll have to clean and dust. Assess your books, magazines, furniture, toys, and clothing for potential donations or recycling. As you go, turn off light bulbs and ceiling fans in preparation for dusting.

  2. Conquer closets: Face your fears and organize those closets you've been avoiding. It's time to minimize clutter and maximize efficiency. To begin grab a handful of items (or more) that you no longer wear or have use for! We are huge advocates of donating unused items. Feel free to post a “curb alert” or drop it off at a local donation center.

  3. Dust with precision: Dust your home from left to right, top to bottom using microfiber cloths. This not only removes dust but also reduces allergens and improves air quality. Use dampened cloths attached to mops or brooms to eliminate cobwebs. For slatted blinds, close them one way and dust, then close them the other way for more efficient cleaning. Don't forget to dust the tops of doors, fans, light fixtures, picture frames, and your cherished knick-knacks (consider display cases to minimize dusting). Use glass cleaner on cotton cloth or microfiber for framed photos, TV screens, and computer monitors to avoid streaking.

  4. Vacuum effectively: Ensure your vacuum bag or compartment isn't full, and use the appropriate settings and attachments. Vacuum all the floors in your home, including upholstered furniture. Prepare to be amazed at the hidden treasures (like lost socks or your favorite pen) you might find under couch cushions. Notice your vacuum isn’t quite “cleaning” up to par as it used to? It could be time for an upgrade!

  5. Sweep, mop, and treat floors: Give your floors a fresh look by sweeping, mopping, and treating them (excluding the kitchen). Start at the farthest corner of each room and work your way back towards the entrance. Remember to rinse the mop after completing each 4 x 4 foot area. Depending on your flooring, there are a variety of cleaners (we prefer a homemade mix) to clean and polish your floors!

  6. Revitalize your furniture: Periodically, your wooden furniture may benefit from a good waxing to maintain its luster. Like mentioned above, it’s important to know what type of wood, or material you’ll be cleaning prior to applying. At they very least use a new, and non-streak cloth to wipe down any debris from the surface.

In addition to our general cleaning checklist, we've provided specific checklists for cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. These detailed guidelines will assist you in tackling the unique challenges of each area.

Bedroom Cleaning Checklist-

If you've already removed clutter, dusted, and vacuumed the house and tidied your closets, your bedrooms will basically be done. For the finishing touch simply:

  • Return any furniture (chairs, diaper bins, etc.) that you put up to vacuum earlier.

  • Make bed.

  • Straighten and organize remaining items.

  • Special projects: Organize your sock drawer? Fold laundry and put in dresser? Put a mint on your pillow?

Window Cleaning-

  • Use a streak-free glass cleaner (don’t spray on too much) and wipe with a clean microfiber or soft cloth. Remember don’t use an old cloth or rag as this can lead to scratches. Older cloths can have small pieces of debris within the fibers (yes even after they are washed). Pro tip, the same goes for when you’re cleaning vehicles!

  • Clean large and hard-to-reach windows with a professional-quality squeegee.

  • Clean window screens by removing from frame and scrubbing with all-purpose cleaner mixed with warm water. Scrub each screen with a bristle brush, rinse with outdoor hose and insert back into window to dry.
